Hey guys, Cody here. This week I’m bringing you a different type of FNF, this is going to be my view on the state of our beloved fighting game community. How much further can we go? Is it in danger? Will the major games survivefast EVO?
Its no question that us as gamers fear the day our favorite games perish. But what about the games community as a whole? Games like MAG still have a dedicated, yet albeit small, community of gamers still playing. But the FGC is different. We have a big player base over a number of fighting games. Competition aplenty. Butwho’s could such a community struggle to survive? The answer: The games and players themselves.
In a world where we are constantly connected to the Internet, it makes sense that the Internet would evolve. In the case of online fighters that’s the opposite. The net codes are constantly getting worse and worse, making online play atrocious and no fun at all. Wthe haven’t the developers created a better netcode yet? Why are we waiting? Online gaming is as popular as eve, why are we still suffering through laggy players and combos that are unexecutable.
Usually, a big factor is the community it self. The players who tend to constantly whine and hate other players cause a lot of tension within the FGC. We can’t gain any reputation with players constantly causing trouble on streams or forums. That just pushes others away from our scene. Let’s take MK pro. He’s a great guy, infact I have even done an interview with him. But the community pushed him to the edge, far enough to where he quit the forum and deleted every video on his popular YouTube channel. Now he just has 1 video up at a time. Another MK great, REO, recently posted a video bashing the community severel, also saying he the forums. This goes on in every community of each fighting game. The players again, push new comers away.
So how to we survive? First we must stop this pointless fighting about bad characters , bad players, and stupid issues. We need to rebuild from square one. We won’t survive EVO if were still fighting about which sub zero player is the worst. Stupid arguments like this is what breaks up the community we all love. As said above, the FGC is suffering, we need to rebuild our base, make better games with far better online, and we need to stop looking like complete idiots on the fighting forums. Come on guys, save the smack talk for the match and quit ruining the community.

Its like you learn my thoughts! You seem to understand so much approximately this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you simply can do with a few percent to force the message home a little bit, but other than that, this is great blog. An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.
