Pokemon may not have its pop culture hype has it did back in the late 90s but look around the internet and you will see that there is still a HUGE support for Pokemon. It might come as a surprise for Nintendo but a lot of young adults still play Pokemon and it should not be ignored. As a kid, I loved the TV show, Movies, the card game and even the Toys. Now that I am older I tend to focus more on the games. This year I started going to more gaming events and I gotta say that having a group of gamers in one place and getting excited about the same thing is an amazing experience. It makes me wish that there was more events.
Yesterday I heard that there was a “Brony Con”. It is a convention for “My Little Pony” for all ages. I wont make fun of the people who enjoy this but I will say that I find it amazing that “My Little Pony” has a convention and Pokemon does not. Either Nintendo does not care or the fan base does is not making enough noise to get a convention going. The more I think about it the more it makes sense. The convention would include things like:
- Demos of the latest Pokemon games.
- Screening of the latest movie and/ or TV Show.
- Tournaments for the Video games and the card games.
- Spots to buy offical and exclusive Pokemon products.
- Cosplay Conquest.
- Pokemon speed dating.
Those are just some ideas and I know some people are reading this and thing “OMG I WISH THAT WOULD HAPPEN”. The sad truth is that Nintendo is the only one with the money and resources to make this happen so as fans the only thing we can do is demand it. I plan on having 1-3 Pokemon events/meetups in the NYC area and hopefully Nintendo will notice things like this and they can finally put it in motion….Gamer Motion.
