What is the best way to record iOS gameplay?

I been covering iOS games ever since I got my iPad and I plan on to contine doing that but what is the best way to do it? Screen shots? NO! Video? YES! but what is the best way to record iOS gameplay? For me, Theres 2 ways.

The easiest way is to “live” record. With this method I record the gameplay with my HD camera and insert the audio jack into my video editing program. The benefit to this method is that it is easy to edit and the audio is synced up perfectly. The downside is that you may not see all the graphics in full detail because my hand might be in the way or I need to move the device to play. Here is an example.

The other method I use is with a homebrew app called “Display Recorder”. It is a screen recorder app that records gameplay beautifully. It records in 720p with no noticeable lag. The big downside is that it does not record gamplay audio so I need to record it separately with my video editor problem. It can be a pain in the ass but the end result is a pretty awesome looking video. Another problem is that the video would look TOO GOOD and people would think that I stole the video from someone else and added my own watermark. Here is an example.

For now I am going back to making videos with Display Recorder but I would like to know if you guys prefer the live cam method because it shows out the game is actually played. Leave it in the comments.
